Trademark and Logo Policy
Last updated:
Every page here is about somebody else’s product, so this catalogue is full of other people’s names and logos. This page explains the basis for that, and how to have yours removed if you would rather it were not here.
No affiliation, no endorsement
SAASLEDGE is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, certified by or acting for any company named on this site. A page about a product does not mean the company knows about it or approved it. Anyone can add any company here, and most pages are written by people who do not work for the company they describe.
Every trademark, service mark, trade name and logo belongs to its owner. Nothing on this site transfers any right in them to us or to the person who submitted the page.
Why we use names and logos at all
A catalogue cannot describe a product without naming it. We use a company’s name and, where it helps a reader recognise the product, its logo, for identification only. We use no more of a mark than is needed for that purpose, and we do not use anyone’s mark in a way designed to suggest a relationship that does not exist.
In United States law this is called nominative fair use, and it turns on three things: the product cannot readily be identified without the mark, no more of the mark is used than necessary, and nothing suggests sponsorship or endorsement. Comparable principles apply in the European Union, the United Kingdom and most other places. We hold ourselves to all three.
In practice that means:
- Marks are used in a plain, descriptive context, next to factual information about the product.
- We do not alter a logo, place it in our own branding, or use it as a button that implies partnership.
- We do not use anyone’s mark in our own advertising, domain names, or as a claim about ourselves.
- Where a logo is not needed to identify a product, we are content to show the name alone.
Rules for whoever submits a page
If you are adding a company you do not own:
- Use the logo the company itself publishes for this purpose, from its press kit or brand page, in the form it publishes it.
- Do not redraw it, recolour it, crop it into something else or put it on merchandise.
- Do not upload a logo the owner has publicly asked not to be reused.
- Do not write the page as if you were the company. Write about it, not as it.
Submitting material you have no right to submit is a breach of the Terms of Service, and the person who submitted it carries the consequences.
If it is your mark and you want it gone
You do not have to argue the point with us. Write to [email protected] from an address at your company’s domain, tell us which page and which asset, and say what you want:
- Replace the logo with a current version, or with a specific approved file.
- Remove the logo and keep the page as text only.
- Remove the page entirely.
We do it within two working days and we do not ask you to justify it. The Claim Your Page page describes what we accept as proof that you speak for the company, and what your other options are, including taking the page over and running it yourself.
If you cannot write from a company address, say so and we will find another way to verify you.
What this page is not
This is our policy, not a licence. Nothing here gives you permission to use anyone’s marks, including ours. If you want to use the SAASLEDGE name or logo, ask us at [email protected].
