The tools are not measuring the same thing

Two SEO platforms can report different traffic for the same site and both be honestly built. They crawl different amounts of the web, refresh at different speeds and model clicks differently.

That makes the comparison question specific: how big is the index, how often is it updated, and where the click data comes from. A tool transparent about all three is more useful than one with a bigger headline number.

What you are actually buying

Most platforms bundle four products: a keyword database, a backlink index, a site crawler and rank tracking. Few teams need all four at the same depth.

If rank tracking is the job, count tracked keywords and update frequency. If the work is technical, the crawler and its limits matter more than the keyword database.

Limits that bite

Rows per export, projects, tracked keywords, crawl credits, API calls, and how many people can be signed in at once. Each is a ceiling you meet in month two rather than month one.

Before you commit

Pull a report you would actually send, export it, and check that the row limit did not silently truncate it.

Then look up a site you know well and see whether the numbers match what you already know. That single test tells you more than any feature grid.
